The wedding-season saree that never went missing.
November is wedding season. A two-outlet dry cleaner takes in silk sarees, lehengas and sherwanis by the dozen, many worth more than a month of rent.
Every piece is photographed at the counter with its border, embroidery and any existing marks. Delicate pieces are held on a separate rack until the customer approves dry clean on WhatsApp. When a customer later asks about a pulled thread, the counter shows the intake photo where the thread is already pulled, and the conversation ends politely.
